ATTENTION Instructors: There is a new, seamless way to set up Zoom meetings for your class and share them on a dedicated calendar page.
What is different?
Instructors can choose how they manage Zoom meetings for their classes in Brightspace by D2L.
Without the Integration
- Instructor sets up meetings in Zoom.
- Instructor puts the Zoom ID (often a personal Zoom ID) in the syllabus, the instructor page, and weekly announcements, in D2L
- Students click an instructor-generated link to attend meetings.
With the Integration
- Instructor adds the Zoom integration to D2L Content and sets up meetings there.
- Students click system-generated links on a special Content page to join meetings.
How do I add the integration to my course?

Step-by-Step
Download a PDF with screenshots.
- In Content, add a module for Zoom meetings.
- In the Zoom meeting module, click "Existing Activities" and choose "External Learning Tools".
- From the "External Learning Tools" list, choose "Zoom D2L Integration".
- Edit properties of your new link, and make it open in a new window.
- Click your link; it will take you to a new page in Zoom. When ready to schedule a class meeting or a series of them, click "Schedule a New Meeting"
- Fill out the meeting form, choosing the options you need. Note that if you check set up a recurring meeting, the system will assign a Zoom id for that meeting series. Click to save your work.
- When you return to your course meetings page, you will see the full series you have set up.
What enhancements are coming?
- As the Zoom integration becomes the standard for Zoom class meetings, a navigational link can be added to D2L as a shortcut.
- A Zoom-Panopto integration will eventually replace the download-upload drill for sharing Zoom recordings through the class Panopto folder with a slick and quick cloud-cloud transfer. More information in Summer 2022!
