Logging In

There are two ways to access the NLU Online Campus using your NLU username and password: through the NLU Portal or logging in at the site.

NLU Portal Access

  2. Login with your NLU username (NOT your full email) and password.
  3. Click into the "NLU Online Campus" tab.
  4. Click the link for" NLU Online Campus".

Direct Login

  1. Go to https://d2l.nl.edu.
  2. Login with your portal credentials.

Accessing Your D2L Course

Most of the time, the "My Courses" widget will be the place to start. The "My Courses" widget provides tabs that organize the colorful course tiles by separate tabs for each academic term — Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall of a particular year — in which you have courses. The "All" tab will automatically show you all classes up to a cut-off of 20. If you have more classes than can be displayed in a tab, either click "show everything" or use the waffle icon in the navbar to search for a course. Just click on a course tile to go to a course. Remember, if you can see it in "My Courses", you can click it!

Posting an Announcement in D2L

When you enter the course, you are on the Course Home page. The Announcements widget is directly below the home page banner. Use the drop-down menu on the word "Announcements" to create a "New Announcement".

Making your D2L course active

While instructors can enter courses at any time whether or not the course is active, students can only enter a course if it is active. As long as course is active, students can access a course before the official start date and after the end date has passed. Here is how to make your course active.

VPN/Secure Access

Secure access to protected resources such as Banner and Shared Drives is established automatically through all NLU-issued computers with Windows 10. If you can currently access secured resources remotely on your NLU-issued computer, then no further action is required. If this is not the case, then Supplemental Extended VPN access is available through the use of the Cisco Anyconnect VPN Client (PC/Mac). If you are unable to access NLU resources with your device and require an alternative method, please visit the following website for instructions and access to the Extended VPN Client: https://support.nl.edu/Pages/VPN.aspx
