  NLU Campus Pipeline

What is Pipeline?

Campus Pipeline provides a single access point for faculty, staff, and students to gain access to email, University resources including the Library, and the University information system. It is also a Web portal that provides announcements, current news headlines and a variety of available information. For more information regarding Campus Pipeline, visit http://nlupipeline.nl.edu.

Who has access to Pipeline?

All faculty, staff and currently enrolled students have access.

How do I access Pipeline?

Campus Pipeline can be accessed through any Web browser. Be sure that the computer you are using is connected to the Internet, and open a browser window. Type the following URL in the location bar: http://nlupipeline.nl.edu and press Enter or click here. The Campus Pipeline Login Page should appear.

Your username is lowercase and should be the first letter of your first name, and your entire last name (up to 29 characters). If the last name is hyphenated, omit the hyphen. For instance, if your name is Joan Wilkins, your username would be jwilkins. However, if your name is Jennifer Williams-Smith, your username would be jwilliamssmith. Pipeline automatically assigns usernames to avoid duplications. For example, James Smith and John Smith would be assigned usernames of jsmith and jsmith1, respectively. If you try to logon using your name and it does not work, try adding a number to the end of your name, i.e. jsmith1, jsmith2, jsmith3, etc.

Your password is either your date of birth or the last six digits of the Banner ID number. For example, if your date of birth is March 22, 1978, then your password would be 032278. If your date of birth is not stored in Banner and your Banner ID number is 348758304, then your password would be 758304. PLEASE NOTE: NEVER give your password to others. It may allow someone to view or change your personal information, read your email or use your email address and name to perform illegal acts.

Once you have typed in your username and password, click on the OK button. You should get the My Pipeline Page. This is the entry point.

Obtaining a Campus Pipeline Account

Campus Pipeline accounts are created using information contained within the university's Student Information System -- Banner. Once a student has registered for classes with the university, a Campus Pipeline account is generated using the first letter of your first name and your entire last name -- without hyphens. For instance, if your name is Joan Wilkins your username would be jwilkins. However, if your name is Jennifer Williams-Smith, your username would be jwilliamssmith.

Because accounts are created automatically, names that might create duplicate usernames are altered to avoid conflicts. Two people named John Smith and James Smith would be assigned usernames of jsmith and jsmith1. A person whose account is generated next and whose username might also be jsmith would have the next number, in sequence, appended to their username. The new username would be jsmith2, and so on. Faculty and staff accounts are created using the same process after they have been entered as employees in the Banner System.

If you are a currently registered student or a National-Louis University employee and you try to logon using your name and it does not work, contact a library staff member or the Helpdesk and they will search for your username in the Campus Pipeline database.
