Travis Sjodin, Technical Director

Travis Sjodin joined National-Louis in 1996 as a technical consultant, then was hired as a full-time employee and transitioned to Collegis in June of 1999. "No matter where you are technology is always changing. The difference between a good job and a great career in the Information Technology field is the people around you.", says Sjodin. "If I had to pick only one thing I love about working for Collegis at National-Louis University, it would definitely have to be the people I work with and support. They constantly present challenges that help you learn, improve and grow."

As Technical Director, Travis is responsible for the WAN, LAN, Internet connectivity, all Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Novell servers, email, file storage and backups, network security, network printing, telecommunications, Helpdesk operations, and PC technicians.

Travis' career in technology has blossomed at National-Louis University. "I started at National-Louis as a Network Specialist, became a Network Administrator and moved into management as the Technical Director. Managing technology has natural challenges, managing people and technology makes it even more challenging and rewarding." Travis' motto in helping others support technology and users is "Where you stand depends on where you sit." Sjodin explains, "Any given person has a different view of what we do and how well we do it, it all depends on what they see and experience. The more we know about what the user is going through and what they are trying to accomplish, the easier it is for technology staff to help them and the more in tune with the community we become."

Travis' contributions to NLU were recognized in March when he was named "Collegis at NLU Staff Member of the Quarter".
