Banner provided an unwelcome surprise with version 5.x of Banner Web for Faculty. The software re-instituted a control that requires that students be assigned to a specific adviser. It now allows a faculty member to see a student's transcript based on one of two criteria: (1) the student is assigned to you as an advisee or (2) the student is registered in one of your active classes. [Note: these controls were in place two versions ago, the control was deleted in version 4 and somehow got back into version 5 without warning.] Because NLU does not have a process to assign advisees to advisers within the Banner system, this creates significant problems. Our tech staff (Eric Vuillemot and Patrick Weathersby) are working on solutions or workarounds to this problem. They believe they have a resolution and hope to have it operational within a day or so. We will announce that as soon as the fix is working.
