This includes Beloit, Chicago, Elgin, D.C., Lisle, McLean and Tampa (The service will be made available at North Shore and Wheeling as part of the building refurbishment work at those two campuses). The purpose of the NLU-Wireless service is to provide safe wireless network access in "public areas" (common areas, classrooms, and so on) for all students, faculty, staff and visitors. Use of the wireless service does not require any additional special software or network authorization. (Your laptop does need to be capable of wireless network access). In most cases, wireless-capable laptops will discover and connect to NLU-Wireless automatically. However, if you need assistance in setting up your laptop to work with NLU-Wireless, please call the Help Desk (X 4357 or 866-813-1177) and schedule a session with one of our Technicians. The NLU-Wireless service provides basic access to the Internet only. This ensures that unauthorized users cannot access sensitive information on the internal network. However, by using "The Extended Office (VPN)", any authorized user can access all network services just as from any other location on the Internet.
